New flavours introduced to our Afternoon Tea Menu

Our A Midsummer Night’s Dream afternoon tea is inspired by the characters’ journeys in Shakespeare’s great romantic comedy. From the apricots that Titania feeds to Bottom and the mulberries on the lovers’ tree, to the ‘nodding violets’ that grow upon Oberon’s secluded bank, we have been inspired by these flavours and reflected them in our menu.

Our afternoon tea menu has recently been refreshed, bringing in new seasonal flavours and ingredients. We use dainty woodland mushrooms in the wild mushroom and leek quiche and the evocative floral notes in our violet and blackcurrant jam macaroons and elderflower jelly with hedgerow berries and vanilla infused cream help to set the scene of the enchanted woodland, where the story takes place. Other delights include Buttermilk poached chicken with grain mustard mayo and amaranth; Poire William and salted caramel Opera and Mulberry scones served with clotted Devon cream and midsummer berry jam.

This summer you can enjoy our new afternoon tea menu as part of our A Midsummer Night’s Dream pop up in our beautiful Balcony Room. During the day, afternoon tea will be served in Titania’s Tea Garden, and come dusk a variety of delicious cocktails and sharing boards will be available in Puck’s Gin Emporium. Our in house florists have created a stunning installation, with tumbling wisteria, overflowing flowerbeds and pretty butterflies. Open on select dates between the 27th July and 2nd September, come and join us for tempting treats and delicasies
