Meet Alice, our fabulous bar manager / resident yoga pro!
Hello Alice! What do you do here at Swan and how long have you been with us?
I’ve been with the Swan for 8 years, and I run the bar. I started off as a bar tender and waitress here, so I know the bar inside out you could say!
What is your favourite Swan memory?
It’s hard to pick just one, but my favourite Swan memory has to either be when the Obamas came to visit, or the Queen’s jubilee. Both days there was just so much excitement throughout the whole site from both our guests, and the team!
And what is the best dish on the menu at the moment?
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, so it has to be the veggie breakfast. Halloumi, eggs, mushrooms and spinach… can’t get better than that!
If you could share a drink with anybody, who would it be?
I’d always choose my family and friends over someone famous, but I think it depends on the drink! I love to go out for cocktails with the girls, I’d share a nice bottle of wine with my parents, or a delicious coffee and smoothie at brunch with my sister and nieces.
When you aren’t running the bar what can we find you doing?
I absolutely love my yoga so most likely balancing precariously on my hands or on one leg somewhere.
And finally, how would you describe Swan?
Eclectic! It doesn’t matter whether you fancy a quick pint and a bar snack, a delicious dinner with a view, or a luxurious private event – the Swan can help!
Swan at Shakespeare’s Globe has been a partner of the iconic Globe Theatre for over a decade, overseeing the bar, restaurant and events spaces as well as the theatre’s cafes and tap houses. Across the site we offer a wide range of dining options including breakfast, brunch and casual lunch dishes, through to creative canapes, bowl foods, afternoon tea and a la carte dining. Likewise our cellar has an extensive choice of wines and beers, and we offer a beautiful range of seasonal cocktails. Centrally located on London’s Bankside, the Swan bar and restaurant is right on the River Thames, and a short walk from London Blackfriars, London Cannon Street and London Bridge, as well as Borough Market and the Tate Modern.
