The first Mead Mondays event is a Mead and Food Pairing on the 12th of September. This is the first of several fortnightly events where Swan, Shakespeare’s Globe has partnered with Gosnells London Mead to bring a series of fun and interactive talks on the increasingly popular honey based drink.
The September 12th event will feature the following:
– Introduction to mead & Gosnells with Tom Gosnell – An overview of its history, its renaissance and how Gosnells Mead approached it and pairs it with food.
– How chefs are using mead – with Jamie Dey – He will take everyone through 3 examples of mead and food pairings, what chefs are saying about mead and what they think it adds.
– Mead tasting with Tom Gosnell – Gosnells to bring samples of each of the following: Sweet, Salt, Bitter, Sour, Umami, with samples of Gosnells London Mead and Gosnells Hopped Mead.
Mead Mondays will commence at 7.30pm with a 30 minute talk, followed by Q&A time. Guests can enjoy the mead-inspired bar menu with dishes including; Spiced Mead Chicken Wings, Mustard and Mead Glazed Pork Belly Chunks, Spiced Cauliflower with Spiced Mead Dip, and Mead Bread Crisps with Young Sheep Cheese and Thyme Honey.
Swan’s Head Mixologist has collaborated with the team at Gosnells to create a concise list of cocktails all featuring Gosnells Original Mead. These include Honey and Spice – with sugar, lime, rum and mead; Peckham Lemonade – with lemon juice, honey syrup, gin and mead; Tequila Meadow Bird – blackberry pureé, reposado tequila and mead; and Pear Mule – with pear puree, lemon, vodka and mead.
The bar menu and cocktail list will also be available during Mead Monday sessions, and daily throughout the autumn.
