Restaurants on the Southbank / by the Thames

If you’re coming to a performance or event at the Southbank Centre and fancy grabbing a bite to eat while you’re in the area, one of the best restaurants on the Southbank is Swan at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Location, location, location

Situated a short stroll along the river and within easy walking distance from London Bridge, Swan’s Restaurant serves modern British food in stylish surroundings. Our enviable location right by the River Thames means that wherever you sit in the Restaurant you can enjoy some of the best views in London of St. Paul’s Cathedral and the City.

Monday to Saturday lunchtimes and evenings we offer an à la carte menu in the Restaurant. Popular for working lunches, intimate dinners or special occasions, this delivers high quality, seasonal food with exceptional service. On Sundays we have a different menu, which includes traditional roasts.

We’re very proud of the fact that the majority of the food we serve is locally sourced from Borough Market or other suppliers in SE1.

Optional private dining areas

Unlike many other restaurants on the Southbank, here at Swan we’re able to offer private dining within our Restaurant for those who prefer a degree of privacy – without losing the atmospheric buzz.

Our handsome Bull Room can seat up to 15 guests on a single oval table and is separated from the Restaurant by a beautiful glass and copper screen. The room has a dual aspect, overlooking the river Thames as well as the Globe Theatre next door. At the other end of the Restaurant lies the River Room. This provides an additional seating area for the main Restaurant but is also available for exclusive hire for up to 40 dinner guests.
